  1. I agree that society makes us because of the social status' both mental and economical.

  2. I agree with the stated quote because society is what shapes how the way people socialize with everyone else. It's the whole reason why some people are either the victim, the criminal, or the plain normal. In Frankenstein, Victor's creature pours out to him of how he is treated by the society of mankind and learns that because of his beasty appearance, he is treated with the utmost disrespect and hatred directed towards him. So, in all, I do believe that "we are what society makes us."

  4. In a way I do agree because society can shape us in many different ways. For better or for worse. In Frankenstein, the monster wanted nothing more than to love and be love, but be never really was able to receive that by anyone in society, so he took it upon himself to show that if I can't be loved than so should my creator. -Ricardo Beltran 7-8 pd.

  5. I agree that society is what makes us. You should treat others as you wish to be treated and in the creatures case it wasn't like that. All he wanted was to be friends at the beginning before asking for a loved one. He didn't receive anything but bad compliments and eventually got hurt by a gunshot when he did something right. As a result, he went seeking for revenge because society made him.

  6. Yes I agree with the quote because we are classified by society. If society sees you as a failure then you'll think you are. For example in Frankenstein the society saw the creature as a monster and they were scared of him. So the creature was classified as a monster by the society.

  7. I do not agree that we are what society makes us. There are many obstacles in life and if we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by societies pressures, then the results can prove to be disasterous, like they were for the creature.
Instead of seeking revenge the creature should of thought it through and been the better person and walked away not committing all the horrors that he committed.
On the other hand, you've got to be a strong person not to allow societies overwhelming pressures get to you, like they did to the creature. He went seeking love and being rejected, he hurt many people and caused tradgedy blaming it on society.

  10. I agree with the question,we are what society makes us.If society treats us bad we're obviously not gonna be cool about it,we're gonna treat them as they treat us.You teat other how they treat you.Like in Frankenstein the monster at first he wasn't mean, till others started treated him bad.He tried helping but all he got back was bad compliments and people trying to hurt him.

  11. I also agree with Robert that people should be treated the way you want to be treated. You can expect for someone to treat you good if you don't treat them good.

  12. I agree, with this statement because if a person looks at their own life they can clearly see that they mold them selves to what society dictates that person should be like, underminding what that person feels they should be.

  13. I agree with this statement because sometimes even I feel like society controls me and makes me who I am. People are expected to be or act a certain way and if they don't they're classified as different or weird. The Frankenstein monster was a victim of society because of his features. Although he was expected to be the perfect man, he was actually disgusting and horrifying and for that people classified him as a monster.

  14. I agree with the statement because although you might think something of yourself, society can think something totally different because they judge you by your appearance and not whats inside you. Like the creature for example all he wanted was to make friends and be loved by others, but society judged him according to his appearence and not what was in his heart, the creature was only a monster because society said he was a monster. Even when he saved the girl from drowning they thought he was actually attacking her.

  15. I would agree that society makes us what we are. These day the media affect most women and men to be something their not. The monster from the book, Frankenstein, was abondened when he was created, he was forced to kill because he was covetous of what human peolple had "Love." Therefore not being able to be loved he only had the choice to murder the most important people to Victor.

  16. I strongly agree with the statement becuase society heavily influences what type of person we will be. I think it's mainly the people who you hang out with in society that shapes you into the person you are. In Frankenstein, the creature was hideous in the eyes of the citizens because the citizens were not accustomed to something so different-looking. Now if the creature lived in a society filled with other creatures, then he would feel at home and have his place in society.

  17. I agree with the quote "we are what society makes us, because society makes people what they are. People are judge on there appearance, and are labeled something for what they look like. In Frankenstein, Victor's creature is treated terribly and is out casted and abandoned by his creator because of his beastly appearance. Therefore i agree with the quote stated above.

  18. I agree that we are what society makes us because societies describe and define the people occupying that area. As stated in Chapter 6 of Frankenstein, "The republican institutions of our country have produced simpler and happier manners than those which prevail in the great monarchies that surround it". The author portrays a contast between the types of societies in the novel and how they differ from each other.

  19. I agree, with the quote. We are what society makes us. We are judged by the way we look and get put into categories, even before a person gets to know you. Frankenstein was put under the category of a "monster" because of his deformity.

  20. I agree with the comment that society makes us who we are. I believe that no matter what you do, you will always be what society labels you as. If you're poor, but at the same time intelligent and as happy as you can possibly be, there's always that negative thought in the back of society's mind that says, "well he/she is still poor." This is all because society, in general, is usually trying to find the flaws in other people. It's nothing personal--it's just the human condition. Frankenstein is a clear example of this. When the monster saves the girl's life, he is still looked upon as a creature that cannot be trusted.

  21. I agree with the idea that society creates/forms people into something "they" accept. Just like in Elizabeth's letter to Victor about Justine, the Frankenstein's provided her with hospitality and in return requested her interested to pursue knowledge in order to exclude the "idea of ignorance," because that was their beliefs. Therefore, I agree with with this idea because a society can only be created among people with the same beliefs; they "teach" others their ways and in return, the people are accepted. velma aguilar 7/8th

  22. I think that Vanessa Salinas is right to comment that society "shapes" how people socialize. Society, though at times more forgiving than others, has led to many people being left as outsiders and has increased the the possibility of violence rooting out in reaction to emotional wounds caused by society's outlook on that person.

  23. I do not agree with the statement that we are what society makes us. There are so many different 'cliques' out in society to where anyone can be who they want to be. I see it like the people make the society and not the society makes the people. Everyone has the chance to make what they want with themselves and when denied acceptance, to try to move and find somewhere to be accepted. Just like with the creature. Yes the creature wasn't accepted by those humans in the story but they didn't make him a murder. He killed out of anger trying to get by at Frankenstein. Murdering was his decision, not society's.

  24. i agree with this quote because it depends on our sorroundings the way we behave or what we do. like texting everybody does it because a lot of people do it as well. an example from frankenstein would be the way the people ran away from the creature because of the way it looked. therefore he became hate ful towards society . so you see the society makes people the way they are.

  25. I agree with this statement because each society has its own set of beliefs and values to which they aspire and conform to. Therfore, we can be viewed, judged, and transformed differently depending on which society we live in. In Chp. 6, Elizabeth explains why a servant in one country does not mean the same in another. Both England and Europe are monarchies, hence there is a clear distinction between the social classes causing servants to be ignored and sacrifice their dignity. Geneva, on the other hand, is a republic, thus there is less distinction and the lower class is neither so poor nor despised. Servants there are fortunate to not endure the demoralizing conditions of other countries.

  26. I agree with Edgar Ortiz's reasoning because within societies, classes are derived. They coexist, but one will prevail, representing the moral aspect of that society. When this happens, it takes over the other classes, and vanishes them from any representation.

  27. Jesus Sanchez's assertion that societies describe and define the people occupying that area sounds right to me. People tend to act and think differnetly depending in which type of society they live in. As a result, if a person is different from that of their own society, he or she would be considered an outcast. An example being Liu Xiaobo who is currently incarcerated for calling democratic reforms in his country, China.

  28. I agree with the statement that we are what socieity makes us. We can think of ourselfs as one way but others might see us differently. For example the monster, society judged him according to how he looked when really all he wanted was to make friends and be loved by others. He acted like a monster because that is what other people saw him as.

  29. I agree that we are what society makes us. I mean it goes for everyone. One day we have someone who's a nobody, but if he starts doing drugs and drinking because he wants to be like everyone else then all of a sudden he's a "cool" guy? Yeah i dont think so. Just like Frankenstein, he created the creature, the creature didnt have to turn bad but he saw how everyone was and didnt like it therefore he transformed into a monster. All im saying is that, just be yourself, nobody will judge you for being you.

  30. I agree with the statement "We are what society makes us" because as people are brought up in this world they are molded into citizens that the community sees fit or they react and grow with the knowledge that society has given them. Like when the Monster is condemned for his appearance. Because of that he lashes out for vengeance. If people treated him kindly he would have stayed a good being.

  31. I completely agree with Darian Munoz's statement. There are plenty of instances where I feel I have to do things expected of me or because that's how "others" would do things.

  32. I agree with the statement "We are what society makes us" because a person developes their personality based on how they observe others interacting with one another. As for Frankenstein's creature, his growth of an infant-like stage through learning the ways of nature and man becomes aggresive and vile when he feels deprived of the happiness that he sees each man give to one another. He feels robbed of his right to equality when he gets scorned for performing noble deeds for man; angering him into despair and benevolance. The creature is shaped based on his treatment of the human-society.

  34. I don't really agree with this statement because it doesn't really matter too much what people think. People's thoughts cannot physically affect a person. It's only how people choose to let society's thoughts affect them. In Frankenstein, the creature choose to let what people said about him and how people reacted towards him affect the things he did. Of course there was circumstances reguarding the creature, like the fact he was abanonded and left alone in a world he didn't know. But if people choose to ignore the negative things some people in society about them, then it'd be completely irrelevant.
